how to change refresh rate of monitor
i want to change my refresh rate to lower it to 60hz because its killing my monitor..fedora 3 has a default setting of 80hz refresh rate...
i switch to whitebox 3.0(gnome) ...i cant find how to change refresh rate..can you help me??

Why would 80hz be doing anything to your monitor.
Unless you have a really old monitor, that was made in the 80's.
80hz won't hurt your montor in any way.
In fact, if the monitor hurts your eyes from looking at it to long, you should up the refresh rate, so you don't get sreen flicker.
I use kde, so I don't know how to change it in Gnome.If you want to learn more about linux take a linux journey

O.K. I switched over to Gnome.
Go to Preferences>screen resolution.
There you can change the refresh rate.If you want to learn more about linux take a linux journey

my monitor is 107E philips ...75 is the maximum refresh rate according to the manual or damaged your monitor...
ok i try that...are you using old gnome? because i can change refresh rate in fedora core 3..but not in whitebox 3...but anyway thanks ..i will try that...

You can also manually change it in /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 (at least I think you can, if FC uses xfree, if it uses xorg there should be a similar file at the same location). Anyways, look for:
Section "Monitor"
then find the 'HorizSync' and 'VertRefresh' options, where you can set the ranges for the refresh rate. CRT monitors should not be too hard to set up, but my LCD took quite a while.
