Error during installation of Fedora Core 1

Hello group,

while trying to install Fedora Core 1 an error related to python-2.2.3-7 appears and as it is said to be fatal, it 'hangs' the installation and force the reboot of the PC. Other types of installation were already tried ('Customized' instead of that option 'Personal Computer' or 'Home Computer') but in both the error happens. Did not find a way not to install this package (could only uncheck the installation of python-devel...). Any help is appreciated. Thanks you all in advance.

Mauricio.

Are you sure you gave the system enough time? Some packages require much more time to install than others.

Is your media good? Did you do the "check media" test at the beginning of the install? Did you do an MD5 checksum on the CD?

Is your CD drive completely reliable? If you have enough space on your hard drive, you could copy all files in the "RPMS" directories into a folder on the hard drive and install from there.

Send a message via MSN to a thing
Why are you installing FC1 instead of FC4?

As a distro, there is nothing wrong with Fedora Core 1. Any issues you have with FC1 could very well be encountered with FC3 or FC4 as well. I still use FC1 in 2 of my machines, one because FC3 was noticeably slower in the old hardware and the other because of some issue with the scsi drives that I haven't got around to sorting out. I have FC3 on my server and it works well, but I haven't seen any real improvements over FC1. FC1 has been super reliable for me.
