Fedora Core 3 (FC3): Can I create a system restore point?

Hello,

I finally have my MythTV box running the way I want it. Before I attempt any further customizations to it, I would like to create a restore point for the entire system, so if I screw anything up, I can at least rollback to a state that I know will work. Is this possible in FC3? If not, what exactly is necessary? Thanks.

sounds like you want a system restore service like in windows xp. I have never heard of such a thing for linux, but then again i'm no linux expert.

You could always backup all of your configuration files.

cp configfile configfile.bak

Or remember to do make uninstall if it doesn't work. OR rpm -whatever OR manually edit any config files you manually edited in install. In my experience linux apps /drivers don't do much behind ur back. You can pretty much tell what was done and undo it. Not so w/WinXP in my experience.

Hey, niceman... Norton Ghost and Acronis TrueImage also work well for this purpose. I always make an image of my partitions after any important Linux installation. If you should goof things up, it only takes about 4 minutes to totally restore the image to be back to a fresh start.
