Soundblaster Live! not detected fedora 3

I'm running Fedora Core 3, full install, on a Dell XPS t700r. I bought a Soundblaster Live! 24 bit card for it, but after rebooting and deleting the previous soundcard's configuration, Fedora refuses to load a driver for the new card. The program Soundcard Detection responds with "No soundcards were detected". I'm at a loss for how I can persuade Kudzu to recognize the card. Is there a keypress during boot to interact with Kudzu? I deleted the soundcard entry in hwconf, but after rebooting, it was back just as it appears in the clipping at the end of this message. Any help would be appreciated!

The following is my modprobe.conf file; I added the lines after and including "# ALSA portion".

alias eth0 natsemi
alias usb-controller uhci-hcd
alias usb-controller1 ehci-hcd
alias usb-controller2 ohci-hcd
# ALSA portion
alias char-major-116 snd
alias snd-card-0 snd-emu10k1
# module options should go here

# OSS/Free portion
alias char-major-14 soundcore
alias sound-slot-0 snd-card-0
# card #1
alias sound-service-0-0 snd-mixer-oss
alias sound-service-0-1 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-0-3 snd-pcm-oss
alias sound-service-0-8 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-0-12 snd-pcm-oss

This is the entry for my soundcard from hwconf. It incorrectly? identifies the card as a Audigy LS.

Soundblaster Live! card not detected Fedora 3

Last night Questor helped me on IRC, and I updated my kernel which now has the alsa driver ca0106. It is still identifying the card as an Audigy, but I now hear the test sound, can play Mp3 music, and hear system sounds. Only thing missing is sound in Mplayer. If I play a movie with sound, I get a low hum.
