Fedora Core 5 kernel source code

I am trying to install the cisco vpn software from my school and during installation it asks for the "directory containing linux kernel source code." I cannot figure out what directory this is in FC5. More specifically it says it needs the kernel headers for the version of the kernal I am using. It hints that in Redhat 7.x they are in /usr/src/linux-...
I have tried /usr/src/redhat and many others but all return the error:
***No rule to make target 'modules'. Stop

Anyone know what directory I need or how to defeat this? Thanks.

I was having the same problem as you installing the cisco vpn client on FC5. Try kernel-devel instead of kerenel-sources for the "yum install" command. Then when I ran the installation, it was able to auto-detect the source directory. Unfortunately, I had other compilation problems with the vpn install. You might want to check out http://www.victortrac.com/cisco_vpn_patch if you were able to get the kernel source but had compilation errors.

Dear Sirs,

I'm currently new here and I'm having the same problem as he is...although the suggestion helped...is there a way i could i could get the source files installed offline using any of the 5 fedora core 5 cd's? the thing is, my LAN card is busted and I can't change it as this is a company PC and my workaround is to install the source code so I could install a wireless USB device...could you please help me...

Lightbulb source code

I was dealing with a similar issue this morning and read the the FC 5 does not ship with the source code on its CDs.

I went the the website and was able to download the source and install it using the rpm command. Here is a link that walks you through it for FC4 and it seemed to work fine for me for FC5:
http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/mjm-fedora-fc4.html
at the bottom of the above link it walks you through the commands needed.

And this link got me to the source code I needed for the core:
http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pu.../linux/core/5/

Hope that helps.
