Hi Casper

As you know I use FC5, so is it possible to upgrade the present installation to FC6 without going through a clean install? Well I just do not want to loose all the settings that you painstickingly helped me to achieve .

you are upgrading from FC5 to FC6. there wont be any problem. i prefer and suggest fresh install only if there is a huge change in version like FC3/FC4 to FC6.
go ahead for Upgrade ! Good Luck !!!

Question

Ok, since I'm running Linux mainly to get used to the command line interface, because from my understanding people rarely use the GUI aspect on servers. So I'm not concerned with the media players and things like that.

What I am concerned with:
Web Browsing
USB converted to PS/2 mouse support
SSH (telnet if need be)
httpd
FTP (or whatever secure version of that exists)
probably some sort of simple text editor, like PICO

will FC6 give me issues with this?

No, you should be fine. You should also make sure to de-select any user interfaces during the install unless you want to have the option. It'll save you a couple hundred megs.

This thread is now closed. It is not, nor do I believe it was ever intended to be, a save-all "let's ask a question about FC6" thread. If you have a specific question about some aspect of Fedora Core 6 "Zod", please start your own thread in this section of the forum and we will help you.
