Obviously- it is a computer, afterall. But with macs it isn't as simple. Because they run PPC architectures, I think you HAVE to install a PPC Linux distro. Luckily for you, you came to the right distro as Fedora does have a PPC edition.

When my computer gets fixed, I am going to install Fedora and check it out. Hehe, I'm a little eager :P.

Good luck with your iMAC. I was so close to getting a mac, I love Macbooks. 1. Dad hates them 2. the man who builds our computers is our friend so atleast the money would go to him. I was close though..

Yes, but you need to know whether your Mac is a PowerPC (PPC) or Intel Core Duo machine. When did you buy it?

Well its a Duo core 2 that I am looking to buy. I havent bought it yet. It looks nice with the 24in wide screen. But I wanted to make sure if I will be able to install linux on it. But my main concern is, would I be able to dual boot linux and mac os?

Yes, you'll be able to dual boot your mac computer. You have to download bootcamp from the Apple's website which will let you install fedora core 6, as well as Windows if you so wishes.

Boot camp supports fedora? Cool. I thought it was only Windows, which I couldn't see the point of. I mean, if you have Mac OS, then Linux has things to offer. Mac has everything Windows has though. The only reason I WOULD (I don't though) use Windows is because of flash and some other software, but Mac seems to have everything Windows has and more.

That is, except for games. I don't see what people are complaining about though, Mac and Linux have lots of games! Sure, they don't have as many but who plays all the games anyway?

Gamers do.

Gamers want to play all of the 'cool' ones that are only made for PC.

I am not a gamer but there are some games I do like to play that are either unavailable outside of a Redmond box, or at least, not supported well and run at a reduced capacity in emulators.

One thing of note; since Mac OS X, the OS has been X based. There are alarming similarities between the two at that level. The rumors were that after Mac OS X, Mac should be able to handle more applications written for Lunux. I don't know if that was true or not, I haven't owned a Mac since OS 9 came out, and even then, I stuck with OS 8.6.

I know that when I wanted to install Yellow Dog Linux or Mandrake 8.0PPC on my old Mac that it failed because Boot Camp still needed the original OS CDs for the Mac, even though the Linux CDs were available. (Dual boot or not) Make sure that you don't need them, or if you do need them, make sure that they come with your new Mac.
