Hi and Welcome !
Imho, there is no need to install Anti Virus in Linux unless your machine is a part of Network having Windows machines too.
I haven't installed any antivirus package in Linux machines.
You should install rootkit hunter and firewall though. Check this Short Security Guide.It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

Thanks but i want to run a mail server so i need to use an antiVirus for scanning the mails .(because our clients maybe use windows)
Our mail server will be based on redhat.

Clamav integrates nicely with most mail related software.
I use avast when I need to fix a windows machine at work, but my guess it's that the linux version is not made to run daemonized not does it integrate that well, at least not without heavy scripting.

- 09-15-2008 #5I confirm. Linux Avast does not run as a daemon. I have it installed on my machine, but I have only actually run it about twice!but my guess it's that the linux version is not made to run daemonizedDistribution: Archlinux

The "best" is very subjective but as suggested above, ClamAV is quite popular.
