/etc/syslog.conf vs /etc/syslog-ng.conf
greetings all,

my box is a linux suse 10.3
i did not see the file /etc/syslog.conf. all i see is /etc/syslog-ng/syslog-ng.conf. for other distro's,syslog.conf file is more like an organised table ( facility.level action),but in my suse 10.3 is more like scrap.how do i enable /etc/syslog.conf in my suse.all my search points to /etc/syslog.conf saying syslogd is the deamon.
in suse is says syslog-ng is the deamon.does it mean that system logging deamon varies for different distros.
i just need to see:
mail.err /var/adm
where do i get to the file.
I WILL BE GREATFUL FOR YOUR HELP.
