    whats a good firewall for linux?

    Most people just tend to stick with Iptables, although I have heard good stuff about Shorewall too.

    I've used both shorewall and firestarter and can't tell the difference between the two.

    Yeah most of the firewall scripts works on iptables so you can choose any one which you think is easy to use.
