i created a PGP encryption key on xubuntu 9.04, but i dont know how to actually encrypt the files.
i would really appreciate any help, i have a bunch of files i want to encrypt...Microsoft isn't evil, they just make really crappy operating systems.

Well, PGP on my CentOS system installed itself so that if I right-click on a file in the file manager (konqueror) and select Actions, one of the options is to encrypt the file. Bingo! Have you looked in the XFCE file manager to see if you have something like that?
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.

I couldn't find anything like that in thunar.

You can add custom actions to the right-click menu in Thunar. Just open a Thunar window, and choose 'Edit'->'Configure custom actions'.
