    Firewall help

hi there i have recently bought and old laptop to help me with linux at college (put ubuntu on it and impressed so far), unfotunately i missed a few weeks due to illness and completely missed the firewall sections. i now have an assesment which asks the followng:
FIREWALL produce a report containing an iptable firewall definition for a system requiring the following features:
Full egress and ingress filtering (i.e. defaults are all REJECT)
The machine has only one network connection, eth0.
The machine runs ssh, telnet, apache, and qmail.
It should be able to surf the web, send email, and make DNS lookups.
The apache user should not be allowed to surf the web
You should make the rest of the rules as security focused (and sensible) as possible.
i have got the notes on it but as it wasn't explained i am a big bit lost (even after managed to get a 12 hour lecture crammed into 2)
any help would be much appreciated.
    ta

Sorry but we don't do homework here - it's part of the rules

The things you need to do aren't too complicated and you will be able to figure them out simply by using a search engine

It's the best place to start for anything. Forums are normally used if you are still having problems after using a search engine. You can also use the forums search tool as most questions have already been asked several times before
