Can anyone tell me, how can I know the type of cryptographic algorithm by just manually looking at the cipher text or through which algorithm that is encrypted?

e.g. I have encrypted a file using bf-cbc algorothm & sent resulting cipher to a person but receiving person does not know through which algo., it is encrypted. So how would he decrypt that cipher?
