    Linux Based Firewall+Bug Scaner

    I use Norton 2005 for my WinXP pc, But I am getting another PC for myself to make into an online server. Do you think I should buy some firewall+bug scan softwere and what? I will only be useing the home server for servering and downloading files.

    You can use iptables as your linux firewall, it should be installed on your linux box.

    Look at Firestarter for a gui for iptables
    http://freshmeat.net/projects/firestarter/

    And use ClamAV as your anti virus
    http://www.clamav.net/

    All of these are free to download and install.
