it doesn't have a vga port on it, have to use a vid card to hook up a monitor ...

This is really ancient! And, no, the two "firewall distros" I mentioned earlier won't work on it.
I'll look into it, but perhaps BSD would be better in your case; in any case, it would appear CLI is the rational choice!
