Biometric ?
I am wondering if their is any public biometric databases out their
To get fingerprints , handwritting , DNA , IRIS , Retina scans
I am creating new cool software for biometric data analysis and I was wondering if their is any publicly available databases for this stuff.
Or is the only people allowed legally to access stuff like (or systems that would have biometric data in them)
Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System (IAFIS)
Fichier National Automatisé des Empreintes Génétiques
Automated fingerprint identification systems
The police and law enforcement.
Or is their a public database out their that allows this ... Or at least access to a public based interface to view things in the IAFIS , or other ones.
Anybody know for sure.
The answer is probably no under some privacy act (which I would have to agree with) But in this one particular case where I am trying to improve the biometric api's and software . I need a large enough.
sample.

wow, thanks
I thought it would be invasion of privacy to have the databases public.
Because if one took prints of somebody and new their name or something to link the print you would be invading
somebodies privacy.
But all the same just what I needed. I am assume the databases contain biometric data but don't contain humans other id like names ,...etc
Would I be correct in saying are biometric data is safe in the police databases? (just a little worried about are privacy in the coming years)
Maybe these finger prints are from dead people in that case I don't see a privacy problem.
Anybody know for sure.Last edited by sam111; 02-11-2012 at 11:44 PM.
