uvscan on LInux taking space
Hello all,
I have uvscan running on Linux server. It is installed in /usr/local/uvscan
I dont have /usr as a separate partition..Due to the file produced by uvscan my / is getting full.. Just wanted to know if it is safe to remove the files in the qurantine directory..
In fact the quarantine directory in /usr/local/uvscan has lots of directories
similar to the following dating way back from March
drwx------ 2 nobody nobody 4096 Mar 4 23:22 h257M8kp030041
drwx------ 2 nobody nobody 4096 Mar 4 23:25 h257PDkp030808

drwx------ 2 nobody nobody 4096 Mar 5 05:17 h25DH5kp003505
drwx------ 2 nobody nobody 4096 Mar 5 05:17 h25DH5kp003511
drwx------ 2 nobody nobody 4096 Mar 5 05:17 h25DH6kp003514

drwx------ 2 nobody nobody 4096 Mar 5 05:17 h25DH9kp003544
These directories together amount to a space of around 1.2 G ...I want to remove them to free up space for root so just wanted to know if it is safe to do so or it wil affect the uvscan
Thanks in advance

Hello,
This program was installed by someone else on the server. This is from Mcafee and is used to check files on the server for any virus. Sorry I dont have much understanding about this program so cant answer to your satisfaction, but I will try and find out the link for this from the readme files and post it .. The links should have some documentation about its installation and configuration
Thanks

I take this is used on an email server? Anway call uvscan with --delete so it won't quarintine files. You can wipe your quarintine directories without any problems.

Hello Genlee
Thanks.. I removed most of the quarantine directories and made some space.. I will use the --delete option as you have suggested...
Thanks
