    Authentication issue with LDAP

    Jul 22 08:57:53 asd03 sshd[26409] : Failed password for smithj from 192.168.8.100 port 33200 ssh2

    I am getting this message when trying to authenticate against a Sun LDAP ONE server using Red Hat 7.3. I have run authconfig and everything is setup correct. I have checked the /etc/ldap.conf and openldap/ldap.conf. They are correct. I have also compared the system-auth and the nsswithc.conf files with another 7.3 box that is working, they are identical. I have restarted sshd. I am running out of options. Can anyone help please? thanks

    new info

    New info. I can touch a test file and then chown to one of the LDAP users and it works. It sees the LDAP Directory, I just can't log in.

    touch file
    chown 12001.10000 file
    ls -l show that the ldap user and group own the file
