    iptables help

i just started with the setup of iptables. im a linux newbie and im following this howto http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Iptables_for_newbies
but ive been having some trouble.

ive noticed that after setting the iptables module and running that if i run the zgrep -i netfilter /proc/config.gz command it still says CONFIG_NETFILTER is not set, i thought it was suppose to say CONFIG_NETFILTER=y.

Also when i open up my /etc/iptables.bak i notice that iptables-save didn't generate anything in the file.
Well if you have any advice that would be great
    thanks

Use quicktables...IMO the best thing for configuring iptables =P

    http://qtables.radom.org/

I use it and it lets me configure complex rule sets without out having to worry about the specifics of iptables since I really don't need to learn ANOTHER firewall.
