Lock Down Ubuntu?
have installed Ubuntu 5.10 on a standard PC. Works beautifully. I now want to set it up for a non-admin user in Kiosk mode for our library and lock down the desktop for all other users so they can only run Firefox in kiosk mode and not run any other app, nor change the desktop, nor delete the firefox icon etc.
Any ideas? Detailed instructions would be deeply appreciated as I am completely new to Linux - transitioning from the dark side...
Opera has a built-in kiosk mode that you could use. It allows you a lot of control over what the user(s) can and cannot do. You can have it automatically launch when X starts (~/.xinitrc). Make sure to disable things like CTRL+ALT+Backspace, CTRL+ALT+F*, etc.
