Hi ! I found a nobody:x:99:99 or similar line in my /etc/passwd file. I got suspicious and deleted it. Should there be such a line ? Thanks. Does tripwire work for Slackware ??

nobody is used by deamons, like apache to run on a non-priviegied user like root. Its there because of securityreasons. And I'm pretty shure you will find a "nobody" group in /etc/group as well.
Yes, tripwire should work on Slackware.
Good luck
