need a little server advice
ive got and old 500mhz computer with 2 hard drives in it. i was hoping i could turn it into home server to store music and videos on. im going to need to connect to it with vista and suse 10.3. ive tried to install freenas on it but apperently it has a problem with my cdrw drive during install. "Read_big hardware error" i was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction to make this possible

You would probably be better using samba to connect up. You can produce a basic samba configuration by working through the well commented config file (usually /etc/smb.conf) and starting the samba service (could be 'smb' or 'samba', check the contents of /etc/rc.d/init.d for your system)
