    Postfix is delaying some mails

Our corporate mail server is a Postfix running on a Debian Sarge. Recently, I have noticed that some outgoing mails are delayed some time and I do not know why. Here is a line from mail.log

    Nov 8 11:15:24 sirius postfix/smtp[23109]: 5C5756000CB9: to=<>,[], delay=4, status=sent (250 Ok: queued as B49E83DC004)

So for example, this mail is delayed for about 1 hour... this is a big problem !!!

Any help or hint would be appreciated.

    delayed emails

did you ever get an answer to why your emails were being delayed?
We are having a similiar problems where if I run qshape I can see post fix is spacing out the emails and delaying their sending. I don't know why this is. Sometimes it goes up to as high as 40(min) on hold old some of them get in the queue. But most of the time for no reason....postfix will space out 4 emails at 5, 5-10 emails at 10 and 20 minutes. Don't know if your having a similar problem but would like to find out.

I don't have your answer, but if you are serious about finding out, I would recommend the postfix users list. It is a high traffic list sometimes but there are very good postfix experts there (including wietse himself). I am subscribed and get get information and help when needed. I recommend it for any postfix admin
