MySQL and PHP
Hi There - I have recently rented a dedicated server that will eventually host my website, (being blonde) I thought it had the same set up as a shared server...for the past 4 days, I have been trying to get MySQL and PHP installed to the server so that I can unpack my software to the test domain, I have contacted my server's support and told them to speak to me like I am an idiot but they still speak in tech terms
What I need if anyone can help? Is, to be able to get MySQL up and running on my server/test domain so I can upload my database backup file from the MySQL database that is currently on my shared server, can anyone please help on this? Or is it better just to rent another SQL database from the same place I have my dedicated server?
On my shared server's MySQL database, all I have to do is got to http://mysql12.domainname.com and type in my user name and password....is there anyway to be able to do this on my linux dedicated server...
Please help someone lol!!!

Web Server Tutorial: Install MySQL 4.1.21 for Linux - DeveloperSide.NET
a very easy guide to install mysql
then you need to get phpmyadmin
phpMyAdmin | MySQL Database Administration Tool | www.phpmyadmin.net
which is also very easy to install. phpmyadmin will give you a nice web interface to access your mysql server, add users, db, import data, very simple to use tool

You need to create an addon domain for http://mysql12.domainname.com. What errors you are facing while trying to install Mysql & php? Ill suggest you to get it downloaded/installed by your Support team but though they charge for dedi servers. Also are you using Cpanel/WHM server management utilities?Regards,
