    upgdating/upgrading server setup

Hi guys .. I'd like a bit of help, if possible.
I run a site currently which I've set up on an older comp at home. Got RedHat Linux 8 installed, Apache2 server, PHP and mySQL.
My HTTP server is IP based, and having a dynamic IP address I must rely on no-ip.com's redirect service to keep the site up as much of the time as I can.

Now, I'm getting very close to purchasing my own domain .. and I'd like to know a few things:
    - can I serve up my pages based on DNS instead
    - how do i set this up?
    - which DNS numbers do I need .. ones provided by the internet provider .. or ones given by the domain registrar?

I hope the above makes sense .. any and all help would be very much appreciated.

    here's a crazy thought ..
theoretically .. would it be possible to purchase [from a host] only a static IP and bandwidth .. and still be able to host your site on your home comp

oh and let me know if I've gone off the deep end with that thought

    cheers ..
