Limiting the Number of Login Attempts To Protected Directories

I have a few directories that are password protected with apache.conf. I am able to use a wrong username and password as many times as I'd like. I haven't found anything on this in the Apache2 docs or google. Does anyone know how to regulate this?

    Thanks

    I am not 100% sure.
But I recall something for using PAM on Apache2.
You might want to search for that.

    Cheers,
