slow samba-possible solution
My samba server was dog slow and making large cpu loads. I checked my smb.conf inside and out and and tried all kinds of settings. Even esoteric stuff. Nothing worked. Samba was super slow.
Then I went into the kernel and removed all samba stuff from the kernel. Recompiled the kernel, and voila! Samba really motors now! No CPU load either.
