Hi
I want to buy a custom server . my end to do this is a web server that serve as some other internet servers like mail server cvs server and some clustering . in my country "iran" some people offer me this list
mainboard: intel tyan
cpu : 2x Amd opteron 2214 or 2216 or 2220
ram : 2x 2Gb ecc
HDD : 2x 500 Gb sata2
is that good for my purpose ? some peaple tell to get INTEL xeon quad instead of opteron . how is it?
which one is more flexible with linux kernel?
please help me

I find generally speaking at the moment Intel is better. the chips perform better, run cooler and have lower power consumption as they are pretty much ahead by one generation. For example the Intel Q6600 which is almost a year old still outperforms the brand new AMD Phenom Quad cores.
Also if you can I would look at buying multicore processors rather than several seperate CPUs. You will benefit from lower power consumption and heat.
