Samba cmd line syntax issue
I'm working slowwwly on the newbie cmd line sticky and wanted to add a samba configuration tool. I've used it a couple years ago but I want to verify the syntax of it's usage:
Command SwitchOptional FileLocation_Name
testparm /etc/samba/smb.conf
This should print command line information for the program and any errors
Question 1. Is this order and syntax correct? if not please use example above and correct as necessary.
Question 2. Is this switch really needed for basic samba config if nothing fancy is being done. i.e. just public files and maybe a dir with basic auth. req.
Queston 3. Is there a better way of checking for smb.conf errors for a new user?
Thanks,
Edit: I've tested it at work and its as stated above. Thanks to anyone that tried.Dan
