Question Difference of ldapadd & slapadd

I'm now learning OpenLDAP myself. And I'm confused with ldapadd and slapadd. It seems that they have the same function, import data from a LDIF file. Could you please tell me the difference between them?
Another question, if I want to modify the the record of LDAP DB through LDIF file. Which command would I use to import the file? The man page said 'ldapadd is implemented as a hard link to the ldapmodify tool.' And what about the ldapdelete/ldapsearch? May I used the ldapmodify to import the LDIF file, which contain the 'changeType' entry? Thanks a lot.
