Have you succeded with this problem?
I'm running Slackware 12 and I have the same problem.I'm preety sure, that it's MySql<->Postfix problem because when I comment out part with mysql references I can send emails with telnet.

    Hi redguardian,

I already solved the problem in sending/receiving mails. It was caused by authentication problem. Please check all passwords on the files with connection to MySQL.

I'm now still struggling to direct all mails to /home/vmail. They are now delivered to /var/mail.

    Good luck
