If you're going down this route then I'd recommend you pick CentOS. But you're almost there, so why change?

Whenever I run the admin service on my FDS, I run the admin startup script first, then connect using the admin client. Now I don't need to do this often, so I forget the names of the commands I run, but they're in the FedoraDS directory on my server. I never bother checking for the presence of the admin service with ps, I just run the client and get on with the changes I need to make.
