    Server Security

I want to operate my own web server, currently running opensuse 11.1 but am concerned about how serious I should take security. I do not plan on giving any information out about this web server and only want to be able to host a couple of gigabytes worth of movies, music, and ebooks so that I can access/stream them from school, work, etc.

Anyways, I'm pretty new to Linux and just want to know how concerned about security I should be and what kind of protection I should be looking into.
