    Code:
    # not sure of the difference of the next two
    # but they are needed for local
    aliasing alias_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/aliases
    is that valid?

    if it was I would think it would be

    Code:
    aliasing_alias_maps = ..........
    instead of having the space after aliasing

    Either;
    Code:

    Or;
    Code:
    alias_maps = ..........
    works.

    What is "aliasing" used here for? Thanks

    I don't know what aliasing is used for but thats my point, postfix commands are one word, in your main.cf aliasing has a space after it instead of _

    but if you read it, it looks like word-wrap from whatever you copied it from bumping aliasing down a line and it should be (read the commented out part)
    Code:
    # not sure of the difference of the next two
    # but they are needed for local aliasing
    alias_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/aliases
