Hardware Independent Backups
Hi there. Our linux server numbers keep growing and growing and I am looking for a hardware independent backup solution. Currently, a large majority of our windows servers are backed up Symantec Livestate which gives us full, hardware independent, bare-metal backups.
Is there an open source option for linux servers that could accomplish the same thing? (ie putting the image on different hardware and having it run correctly)

I am using rsync to backup important data (home directory, sql databases). But I need a solution that will allow me to do a complete bare metal recovery. I wasnt aware rsync could do this.
