How to host a site if you are under proxy
Hi i recently tried to test my apache web server on my fedora machine..
now when i am here in my college using the college net under proxy i don't know how to configure the ports and port forwarding and all that stuff....
further i am not even sure if it is possible to host a server this way when you are using a proxy connection......
please help me.....

if you don't have an externally visible IP address, then your gateway, or whatever machine is performing the NAT/Proxy has to be configured to direct requests on that port to your machine internally, and since you don't have access to that machine (most likely) you can't do it

yep. I'm guessing the network admin probably doesnt want you hosting anything though.
I've worked around these kind of setups using VPNs, but its a fairly limited workaround since users need to be on your VPN to access your server. look into Hamachi
