Reducing Backscatter for unknown email addresses
I'm running a mailserver on Ubuntu Server v9.04, using Postfix and Dovecot (along with Spamassassin and ClamAV through Amavis, and Squirrelmail). Everything seems to be ticking over fairly nicely (i.e. it's effectively sending and receiving for the clients), however I am aware that it is sending out a fair amount of 'Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender' backscatter to faked email addresses, perpetrated by spammers.
Obviously I'd like to avoid sending out such unnecessary mail, but I would, if possible, prefer it to keep notifying me, as it currently does, in case a potential customer genuinely makes a typo.
Is it possible for me to change my setup to avoid such back-scatter, but still retain the notification I currently get?
TIA for any assistance.
