PostFix Configuration issues
Hi ,
I have installed linux, and postfix however while configuring the mail.cf files i have the following doubts, pls help.
1. when i do hostname on my linux box it says localhost.localdomain
2. when i do hostname - a on my linux box it says localhost
3. The domain which I own is xyz.com
Now In the main.cf there is a section as below which says specify your
myhostname
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
# INTERNET HOST AND DOMAIN NAMES
#
# The myhostname parameter specifies the internet hostname of this
# mail system. The default is to use the fully-qualified domain name
# from gethostname(). $myhostname is used as a default value for many
# other configuration parameters.
#
myhostname = host.domain.tld
----------------------------------------------
based on what i said above can any one let me know what has to be my answer ?
Should it be
myhostname = localhost.xyz.com ?? or localhost.localdomain.xyz.com please help

I have a couple of questions for you.
1. Which distro are you using?
2. Can you post the contents of the following files (or attach)
/etc/hosts
/etc/hostname
OK, three questions
