Hi folks,
Ubuntu 9.10
Windows Server 7
Windows Vista
I need setup remote admin of Windows Server 7 and Windows Vista on Ubuntu. Would VNC is the right road to go? If YES, will following URL be the right guide/tutorial for me to follow?

I would use tsclient to connect from linux to windows.
This way, you can use the native RDP in the windows OS.
tsclient is in the standard ubuntu repository.You must always face the curtain with a bow.

Hi Irithori,
Thanks for your advice.
It should be WAN connection via public IP. Whether following URLs are relevant to setup tsclient on Ubuntu;
How To Connect To A Windows Terminal Server From Ubuntu - tsclient
How To Connect To A Windows Terminal Server From Ubuntu
HOWTO Use Remote Desktop from Linux - tsclient
HOWTO Use Remote Desktop from Linux - Linux - University Wiki
What will be the setup/configuration on Window server 7 and Vista?
TIA

Public IP and worldwide reachable might be a problem..
According to this:
Remote Desktop Protocol - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
encryption was added in RDP 5.2
tsclient offers RDP 5.
You might want to ensure, it does support encryption (couldnt find that info in a hurry)
To be sure, a ssh tunnel or VPN comes to mind.
If memory serves, enabling remote desktop on a windows system should be
somewhere here :
Start -> Computer -> <right click> -> Options -> Remote Options -> Remote -> activate remote desktopYou must always face the curtain with a bow.

Hi,
I have been running ssh for sometimes. It works on Linux/Unix servers. How can I install openssh-server and openssh-clients on Windows server and Vista?
Google brought me following links;
OpenSSH for Windows
sshwindows.sf.net: OpenSSH for Windows
OpenSSH on Windows v3.4-3
OpenSSH on Windows
How to install OpenSSH sshd server and sftp server on a Windows
erdelynet.com Blog Archive See cygwin.com for Cygwin + SSH Docs
How to install OpenSSH sshd server and sftp server on a Windows 2000 or Windows XP or Windows Vista
The project, Openssh for Windows, seems stopped.
I haven't run OpenVPN before. Other advice noted and thanks
