CentOS Server GUI (Gnome) Help!

I installed Gnome Desktop Manager, but it wont load when I try to connect to my server via VNC and I get a blank screen. If I use TWM it works though, but that interface sucks. I get this when I try to start it:

Couldnt get a file descriptor referring to the console

I know I used start kde but neither works. Please help.

I don't think you should type kde in the startx command string.

It should just take startx.

Either way its the same error, so it works the same way. Ive tried startx SO many times.
