    mail - send from my server

    Need to send (no need to receive)mail from my server , like

    java code:
    Code:
         Properties props = new Properties();
         props.put("mail.host", "mail.mydomain.net");
         props.put("mail.smtp.port", "25");
    What do I need ?

    I have postfix instaled which is MTA, and as far as I understand that is it.

    Do I have just to configure that or do
    I have to instal anything else ? Asking coz there are a bunch optional packages for mail server in my centOS distribution.

    postfix, like sendmail, should be able to run as-is fresh out of the box. When you want it to do stuff like accept mail, that's where things tend to get complicated.

    i thought java, like php, would have its own mail type function built into, not relying on an actual mail server to be present to send mail.
