file sharing between linux and windows
ok, i am perfectly capable of sharing files from my windows box to my linux box, i have a desktop icon that is for all the shared folders on my linux box, but i cant figure out how to access files from my linux box on my windows box. can some1 please help me out?

I normally map it as a network drive by right clicking my computer then click map network drive the enter the ip and the share like so //192.168.0.1/sharename and click ok.

If you are using the gui it will automatically show the shared folders from your windows box. What I mean is in order to access windows files from linux they need to actually be shared (on windows right click and share as something)

if you read my first post, you will realize that i already CAN obtain my windows folders from my linux machine, and i CAN NOT obtain my linux folders from my windows machine, because i dont know how to share them on the server.

Check out /etc/samba/smb.conf

ummm... i've heard of the fish:// protocol using kioslave under KDE on the NZLUG but I'm just trying to get it working at the moment... if anyone has done it before, i could use some advice here :P
