    Question openLDAP+SAMBA+PDC on Ubuntu server / Desktop

    Hi Guys,

    Hope this is the right platform to get a solution for my long living problem.

    Problem / Scenario:
    Step1: Need to create a domain in Ubuntu desktop / server (any version is ok 8/9/10).

    Step2: Need to join Ubuntu 9.04 desktop to domain and users created in domain is able to login in Ubuntu 9.04.

    Step3: Need to join Windows XP to domain and users created in domain is able to login in windows xp.

    Step4: need samba shares with quota=1GB / user.

    these is the scenario which is required to be configured properly.

    tried all the possible methods which can obtain by searching in GOOGLE. BUT none of them worked out properly.

    Please any one can guide me with a step by step procedure to do this.
    looking for someone to solve this scenario.

    Samba can do all this. The documentation over at is pretty extensive on the subject. I've done most of this before on CentOS, but I didn't need to add any of my Fedora desktops to the Windows domain - I used LDAP login and shared home directories, which seems (or, at least, it did at the time) to work better than domain login.

    For the LDAP service I used Fedora Directory Server, which is now 389 Dirrectory Server which is no easier or harder, but which comes with a helpful UI.
