network security problem - clear text passwords

    Hi

We have a system on RedHat which is supposed to connect via IMAP (SSL) to an MS Exchange Server. The company is not happy about the transmission of clear text credentials over their LAN - fair enough.

The problem is on the Linux end because the vendor (EMC/Documentum) does not support IMAPS with their product and it wont be supported in the near future.

Is there anything which can be installed on the RedHat that can proxy at that end from IMAP to IMAPS to encrypt/decrypt at the Linux server?

    Many thanks

    Kevin

    Stunnel.org will work.
Although it will be a kind of a ducttape approach..

I briefly checked the documentum documentation, and it seems you are right: No imaps, which is close to ridiculous imho.
You must always face the curtain with a bow.
