    server software

    hello all i am really new to linux so far i like this verymuch i am running mandrake 10.0 offical when i loaded mandrake i did not select the server options becaause i have heard or maybe missread that there was a problem when these were selected. now that i have mandrake up and running how do i go about setting up the oprions i left out? i have a windows server running now i want to run bulliten sw but i also need to be able to run http sites as well on this server what do i need to get started i really need help thanks in advance.

    after downloading the newest versions of php and apache in tar.gz format from their respective websites, I usually install with the method I posted here

    You can go to wherever you install packages in mandrake and install all the servers you want. Then go to the servers' websites and read the documentation on them (esp. security notes) and configure them. When you run into problems that you can't solve via the docs and google, come post here and we'll use our top-secret magical penguin pee to solve them.
