Please can anyone give me the idea from the time I send an email and its delievered to the Mail server and when I get the response how sendmail is recieveing the mails and where are those placed.. What is the Procmail and how is it useful.

I forgot all the sendmail stuff I used on my own mail server some 10 yrs ago, because I noticed that postfix is much easier to configure and maintain.
postfix is straight forward easy to setup and configure and all main.cf configuration is somehow obvious to understand.

may be you review your reasons why you consider sendmail ??

my complete mail setup is postfix/dovecot (NO MySQL usage at all to keep it simple and fast)
