Did you leave the defaut settings alone? If you did, then did you check your firewall settings (if you are running one) and router config.
Remember from a earlier post your router/dsl modem is not open to 80/8023/8080 etc...Dan

Cyberfed,
i have exactly the same problem, its had me completely baffled for ages.
im a bit of a noob to linux, but i sort of know what im talking about...
i was running mandrake 9.1, just upgraded to 10.1 but still have the same problem.
i can see /var/www/html/index.shtml from a computer behind my gateway, but i cant see it from a computer outside my LAN.
i figure it might be that the ISP has blocked port 80, but i could not find anything in httpd2.conf that mentions ports.
maybe you have to add in a line somewhere, but if so where....?

oh...one other thing
im trying to set up the server on the gateway itself...is this a bad idea?
also is it a bad idea to run the server/gateway as root?
