Compaq SCSI Array-Mounting Problems

Hi,

I've been teaching myself Linux for the past several weeks now. I have a problem that I simply cannot get help with. . . .

I have an older Compaq SCSI, 7 drive array that I am having a helluva time mounting to be seen as a disk. I have the array set up for Linux raid but I cannot get the array mounted. I was told that I have to edit the /etc/fstab file which I tried unsuccessfully the other day. Is there someone that would be able to tell me with a great deal of patience how to properly mount this array without corrupting my system.

The drives have been fdisked and partitioned as /dev/sda1 /dev/sda2 and so on. Thank you.

As your talking about an array, i assume you mean RAID?

If so, is it software RAID, or is the RAID performed at a hw level?

Some links you might want to check out:

I have never setup raid under linux, only with windows, some of our other members may have set it up on linux though.

Like Jaquar said, it's important if it's hardware RAID or software RAID.
If it's hardware RAID, linux will see it as one logical big disk. You can partition it and mount it from there
