Recover From Tar Backup

i got a tar backup from my server , now my server have problem and i cant use it anymore , is is possible to restore the tar backup on another system?????

Yeah just untar this using following command on your new server.

tar xvf file_name.tar

if its with gz then

tar zxvf file_name.tar.gz
