Sendmail delivering emails locally with delay of 3 minutes ?

    Hi Friends,

I am very much new to sendmail or any other mta. I just installed sendmail 8.14 on my rhel6 machine. I was trying to send email to local user but after entering the message when i press CTRL-D it simply hangs. I also tried sending email via mutt but again mutt also hangs. It sends the email but after taking a quite a long time like 2-3 minutes. I have not made any changes in my config file, the email are being sent and delivered but the delay is quite huge as much 3 minutes. So i am just wondering why so much delay. I did same configuration on my another machine with exactly each step same and there it is working perfectly fine with no delay.

Here are the logs confirming that delay

    Jun 22 21:03:07 test sendmail[2119]: q5N133lp002119: from=rohit, size=9, class=0, nrcpts=1, msgid=<>, relay=root#localhost
    Jun 22 21:05:55 test sm-mta[2120]: q5N137CR002120: from=<>, size=263, class=0, nrcpts=1, msgid=<>, proto=ESMTP, daemon=MTA, relay=localhost []
    Jun 22 21:05:55 test sendmail[2119]: q5N133lp002119: to=stu, ctladdr=rohit (502/505), delay=00:02:52, xdelay=00:02:48, mailer=relay, pri=30009, relay=[] [], dsn=2.0.0, stat=Sent (q5N137CR002120 Message accepted for delivery)
    Jun 22 21:05:55 test sm-mta[2220]: q5N137CR002120: to=<>, ctladdr=<> (502/505), delay=00:00:00, xdelay=00:00:00, mailer=local, pri=30449, dsn=2.0.0, stat=Sent
So could any one suggest what could be the issue. IPTables is not running on the system.

    Thanks in advance

Is SELinux turned on? I don't know if it is an issue in this case, but it can get in the way of a bunch of stuff.
